My Shrewsbury magazine was established in 2017 by national freelance journalist Katy Rink, a passionate advocate of local life who uses her talents and love for local life and great stories from the heart to capture the spirit of the unique town.
We created a milestone rebrand for My Shrewsbury magazine. A rebrand that reflects their evolution as they usher in a purely digital future.
Branding story:
Whose Shrewsbury?
Shrewsbury has many distinct scenes, despite its size: young and old, peaceful and resonant, traditional and evolving. To reflect this, the new identity was developed to move beyond the quaint stereotype often associated with the town.
We designed a vibrant, fresh, refined icon in a more straightforward, more modern form. One that feels more energised and confident. One that gives the reader ownership of ‘My’.
Refreshing the website and bringing it up to date, the new platform needed a straightforward, effortless user experience with enhanced clarity and accessibility to play central roles.
Curated and easily accessed categories allow users to find their preferred story type with just one click.
The new typeface, Filson Soft, is a clean sans-serif chosen for its generous x-height and counter sizes, catering to a wide-ranging readership and devices.
Working with &Something has been a literal dream come true for My Shrewsbury. They are branding experts and absolutely get a brief, but they were able to go beyond that and push the bar even higher with an intuitive understanding of what we were aiming to achieve.
So many agencies nowadays overcharge and underdeliver – &Something genuinely cares.
